International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness

Founder and promoter of the popular European spring contest Loaded Cup, Stellan Bossen, has made a risky decision moving this event from Ringsted, Denmark, to Bochum, Germany, looking for bigger audience, more sponsors and wider attention. Bochum, located in the Ruhr area, with population of over 350 000 and being known as a physique sport center (hosted a couple of German Nationals) met these criteria. “RuhrCongress Bochum was a fantastic business partner all the way. It is big and very cooperative in the way they are taking care of you, and the visitors” – Stellan told us after the event.

Due to close cooperation with the German Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (DBFVe.V) the contest was run and judged by experienced German judges of the international level and has become a true European Union enterprise. German Federation President Erich Janner and General Secretary Guido Falk were there to assist and coordinate the activity. Mr. Enzo Konig worked as a Chief Judge. The effect? “The event was attended by 1200 visitors on Saturday and a bit less on Sunday. And it is OK for me as for inauguration in a new place” – Stellan said. “It takes a time to build a brand” – he added.

For competitors is was the perfect location: 260 athletes from 23 countries performing on the stage is the best evidence. Not so far ago it was a good number for the European Championships. Maybe the date in the Easter weekend was not so convenient for some competitors. But the spring contest schedule is very tough in Europe. A week earlier the Sandefjord Open took place in Norway, the next weekend after Loaded in Bochum, the Battle of Scandinavia was hold on Sweden.

The future? “Started with this concept, I dreamed to be capable to do it 3 times. Now it was the 9th edition and I want to promote the jubilee 10th edition next year” – Stellan said. Watching his passion and determination through all these years, we can be sure he will do it even bigger and better! Good luck!
