President, International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB)

The International Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation, IFBB, is very pleased to announce the organization of the 2007 Mediterranean Bodybuilding Championship in Syria; a country with a rich history and tradition worldwide known.

As International President, I wish to express our respect and thanks to H.E. President of the Syria Arab Republic, Mr. Bashar Al Assad, for his support to this championship, following his traditional well known care to sport, which makes us feel very honored for it.

Our recognition and thanks goes as well for the General Sports Authority and the Syrian National Olympic Committee, for their continuous help to our Syrian National Federation and the organizing committee of this Mediterranean Championship.

A special mention has to be made to our always dynamic and efficient IFBB Vice President, Dr. Adel Fahim El Sayed, one of our most charismatic executive members, who has been in charge of the coordination with the Syrian Government Sport Authorities and Syrian Bodybuilding Federation, leaded by former champion and outstanding official, Mr. Kassem Yasbek. Both leaders, in their respective positions, perform an outstanding job to coordinate this program; and I wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to them and to IFBB Vice President for Middle East, Mr. Malih alaywan, a legendary and beloved champion that continuos his long life of services towards our sport.

The event will be as well a great meeting point, in which all the athletes and officials from the Mediterranean countries will share brotherhood and solidarity feelings.
Syria is waiting, with its traditional sense of hospitality, its history and additional great organizational capacity to perform this international event, in which our best athletes will participate at the highest level of sport excellence.
