CLASSIC BODYBUILDING
AT THE IFBB MEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB), in cooperation with the Czech Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation, organizers of the 2006 IFBB Men's World Bodybuilding Championships, and the European Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (EBFF), is pleased to announce that the new sport discipline of CLASSIC BODYBUILDING will make its debut on the world stage in Ostrava, Czech Republic, October 26-30, 2006.

CLASSIC BODYBUILDING was adopted by the IFBB Executive Council and IFBB International Congress at their annual general meetings in Shanghai, China, on November 24, 2005 and November 27, 2005 respectively.

There are three (3) categories in CLASSIC BODYBUILDING, currently as follows:

1
Up to and including 170 cm
Maximum weight (in kg) = height (in cm) – 100
(maximum +2 kg allowance)
e.g. a competitor who is 170 cm in height may weigh a
maximum of 72 kg
   
2 Up to and including 178 cm
Maximum weight (in kg) = height (in cm) – 100
(maximum +4 kg allowance)
e.g. a competitor who is 178 cm in height may weigh a
maximum of 82 kg
   
3 Over 178 cm
Maximum weight (in kg) = height (in cm) – 100
(maximum +6 kg allowance)
e.g. a competitor who is 184 cm in height may weigh a
maximum of 90 kg
   
 
*Note: If a competitor does not meet the height/weight
requirement, he is disqualified.

The competition criteria for the IFBB Men's World Classic Bodybuilding Championships are as follows:

1. Each National Federation may enter an A-team of not more than three (3) competitors and also, a B-team of not more than three (3) competitors.

2. A maximum of two (2) A-team competitors and two (2) B-team competitors may compete in any one category.

3. The host country may enter a "C" team of not more than three (3) competitors, with up to a maximum of two (2) C-team competitors in any one category.

4. Competitors may compete for placings, awards and titles except for the Best National Team Award.

5. The IFBB Athlete's Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be awarded to the top finalists.

6. Competitors will be subject to drug testing pursuant to IFBB Anti-Doping Rules.

7. Each B-team competitor must pay a Special Package Rate of € 400 for accommodations and meals and € 100 for the IFBB Registration Fee.

National Federations must indicate the total number of competitors, including Classic Bodybuilders, on the Preliminary Entry Form, by the deadline date of August 28, 2006.

National Federations must indicate the actual names and passport numbers of competitors, including Classic Bodybuilders, and their categories on the Final Entry Form, by the deadline date of October 16, 2006.
