WELCOME

The Organizing Committee of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Republic and Azerbaijan Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness takes this opportunity to welcome all National Federations of Europe to participate in the 2007 EBFF European Men Bodybuilding, Classic Bodybuilding and Mixed Pairs Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, May 4th to 7th, 2007.


Baku, venue site for the next coming 2007 European Men Championship and Congress, will be for IFBB President, Rafael Santonja and Mr. Rauf Bunyataliyev, President of Azerbaijan Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, a great opportunity to present the respect of the IFBB to H.E. Mr Ilham Aliyev, President of the Azerbaijan Republic, who has always showing a great sensitivity for our sport.

LOCATION

Baku, the capital of the Azerbaijan Republic, is situated on the Absheron peninsula. Baku is a city of rich history and unique architecture. Baku, once a city within a fortress, after the discovery of oil, within a very short historical period changed into a very important industrial, commercial and cultural center in Caucasus.

OFFICIAL HOTEL

The Official Hotel of the Championships is the Hotel ABSHERON. The 16- stored hotel is situated in the center of the city, near the Boulevard and Baku Bay. The hotel has sea and city views.
120 apartments with maximum conveniences by each room: air conditioner, satellite TV, bathroom with shower, mini bar, international communications, business center, internet access.


HOTEL DEPOSIT


An initial deposit of 100.00 EUR PER PERSON is required upon check-in for incidental and personal expenses, which may arise (telephone, laundry, room services, etc). The unused portion of this deposit will be returned at check-out. In order to facilitate matters, the chief delegate or team leader will be asked to provide a credit card or cash to cover the deposit for the entire team. This individual will be fully responsible for all the expenses incurred by any members of his team. PLEASE INFORM YOUR TEAM BEFORE DEPARTURE NOT TO CREATE ADDITIONAL EXPENSES.

VENUE SITE

The Championships will take place in a modern Sport Palace with seating capacity of 2000 people. The Sport Palace is situated in the Caspian seaside boulevard and is appriximately 15 minute walk from the official hotel.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The Organizing Committee will provide accommodations and three meals per day for all the official members of the national federations according to the IFBB rules:

  • Three (3) or more competitors = Two (2) delegates
  • Two (2) competitors or less = One (1) delegate
  • National Federation with no athletes may send one (1) official delegate. This delegate will be responsible for all his or her own expenses.

The National Teams must be check-in prior to the Technical Meeting. Otherwise the National Teams will be responsible for all their own expenses as extra delegates.

ADDTIONAL DELEGATES, SUPPORTERS, PRESS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS

The Organizing Committee has established a SPECIAL PACKAGE including:
 - Three nights
 - Three meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
 - Tickets for semifinals and finals
 - Sightseeing tour
 - Closing banquet
 - Internal transport
The cost of Special Package is: EUR 250 for each person on a double room or EUR 350 for a single room. For more information please ask the Organizing Committee.

ARRIVALS /AIRPORT

The Azerbaijan Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness will pick you up at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. It is very important that every federation provides their details to the Organizing Committee including the number of people in their delegation. Your cooperation is essential to ensuring adequate transportation for your team.

TRANSPORTATION

A bus service will be organized to take all the athletes and delegates (including those arriving
before the official arrival date and leaving after the official departure date) from and to Heydar Aliyev International Airport. A shuttle service will also ensure transportation from the hotel to the venue site and back

EARLY ARRIVALS / LAST DEPARTURES

Any National Federation, including any of its individual team members, arriving before the Official Arrival Date of May 4, 2007 and/or staying on after the Official Departure Date of May 7, 2007 will be responsible for all their own expenses. Accommodations before the Official Arrival Date and after the Official Departure Date will be approximately EUR 70 per day for a double room

There are 8 men bodybuilding bodyweight categories (Maximum of eight (8) athletes per National Federation will be accepted).

There are 3 men classic-bodybuilding height categories (Maximum of three (3) athletes per National Federation in A-team and the next three (3) in B-team will be accepted)

There are one mixed pairs category (Maximum of one (1) mixed pair per National Federation in A-team and the next one (1) in B-team will be accepted). Men competitors for the mixed pairs should be among the official 8 athletes of the bodybuilding team for these Championships. Otherwise, the man competitor for the mixed pair should buy a Special Package of EUR 250.

Each Official A-Team Athlete and Delegate, including delegates without competitors, must pay the EBFF Registration Fee of EUR 100. This fee is payable to the EBFF upon arrival at the Official Hotel in Baku. The EBFF Registration Fee is completely separate from the hotel security deposit. B-Team Athletes are not required to pay the EBFF Registration Fee since this is included in the Special Package rate of EUR 250, they have to buy.

According to Article 9.4 Point 20 of the IFBB Rules, the host organizing National Federation may enter a C-Team, the same as A-Team, of which the team members may compete for individual places, awards, medals, and trophies; however, their results will not count for the “Best National Team” award.

WEIGH-IN and MEASUREMENT OF ATHLETES

Weigh-in, measurement and registration of athletes will take place at the Hotel ABSHERON. It is the responsibility of the chief delegate or team leader to make sure the athletes are on time. Any athletes who are late will not be accepted to participate.
Each Classic Bodybuilding competitor should consider that if he is overweight and failed to make his bodyweight limit within 30 minutes from the first measure, he will not be allowed to compete in Classic Bodybuilding categories.

REGISTRATION FEE

Each official athlete of A-Team and delegate will be obliged to pay a REGISTRATION FEE of EUR 100. This fee is payable to the EBFF upon arrival in the hotel in Baku. The registration fee is completely separate from the hotel deposit mentioned above.

SECRETARIAT

The Organizing Committee will have a secretariat desk in the lobby of the Hotel ABSHERON from 10.00 am, Friday, May 4, 2007 to 4.00 pm, May 7, 2007. You can obtain information and assistance from the Secretariat.

EBFF CONGRESS

THE EBFF CONGRESS will be held at the PARK INN Hotel, Sunday morning.

BACKSTAGE ACCESS/DRESSING ROOM ACCESS

Access to the backstage area and dressing room area shall be strictly limited to essential personnel ONLY. Coaches and trainers who assist athletes in the dressing room MUST BE OF THE SAME SEX AS THE ATHLETE THEY ARE ASSISTING.

CAMERA/VIDEOTAPE EQUIPMENT

Cameras and videotapes shall be strictly prohibited in the backstage area and dressing room area except when used by duly recognized press personnel and, in any event, these devices shall be STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN THE DRESSING ROOM AREA.

DRESS CODE, PARADE OF NATIONS

The dress code for all delegates or officials for the Parade of Nations is as follows: Black dress shoes, dark socks, grey dress skirt or trousers, white shirt, IFBB tie and blue blazer with IFBB crest. The dress code for all athletes taking part in the Parade of Nations is posing attire.

POSING MUSIC

All posing music must be on a CD. The music must be on the start of the CD. Each competitor must affix his/her name on the CD for easy identification.

COMPETITOR INFORMATION FORM

Fill in this form for each competitor of your National Team prior to your departure to Baku and include as much information as possible. This information will be used during the live webcast transmission from the finals and will be used to promote your competitors in press, TV, website and other media. Each athlete should have the Competitor Information Form with her/him at the Registration of competitors (weigh-in) in Baku.

JUDGES

All National Federations are reminded that their nominations of judges to the Championships must be also included in the Final Entry Form, according to the Amendments to the Rules: That a National Federation must provide on the Final Entry Form the names of all judges (including test judges) nominated to officiate at the competition, failing which the individual will not be allowed to judge. All IFBB/EBFF International Amateur Judges must be in possession of a valid Judges Card.

Special lectures for judges, prepared by the EBFF Judges Committee members, will be delivered during the Technical Meeting. Judges attendance is obligatory! Then all judges nominated by National Federations will have to pass the test of basic judging knowledge to be included in the official judging panels. This test will be run by the EBFF Judges Committee.

DRUG TESTING

Competitors will be tested according to the current IFBB Doping Control Rules.

VISAS

A valid passport is required for entry into Azerbaijan. Please contact the Embassy or Consulate of Azerbaijan in your country to verify if you need a visa. It is important that the visas are obtained before the departure of your team. Visas issued upon arrival in Baku will cost USD 42.00 per visa.

LANGUAGE

Official language in the Azerbaijan Republic is the Azeri language. Most people speak also Russian, Turkish. English is spoken in hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and tourist areas.

Four hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT + 4).

ELECTRICAL CURRENT

220 VOLTS

CURRENCY

The national currency in the Azerbaijan Republic is Manat. One EURO is approximately equal to 1.11 Manats but the rates can fluctuate.

CLIMATE

The beginning of May in Baku is rather sunny and warm. The average temperature is approximately 20 degrees C.

PRELIMINARY ENTRY FORM

Please return the Preliminary Entry Form to the organizing Committee immediately as soon as possible but not later than March 02, 2007 and indicate your federation’s intentions to participate and the number of people from your country who will be attending the Championships.

FINAL ENTRY FORM

Deadline date is April 23, 2007. Please confirm the actual names of delegates and competitors and their weight/height category. Also include flight arrival and departure information.
IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS FOR YOUR TEAM, THE FINAL ENTRY FORM MUST BE RETURNED April 23, 2007.
Your co-operation is essential to ensuring your accommodations at the hotels and assuring adequate transportation for your team.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE

All National Federations that do not advise in advance about their extra delegates and supporters to the Organizing Committee may have a risk to find out that the Hotel has no rooms available, due to its limited capacity. PLEASE NOTIFY THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE ABOUT THE NUMBER OF YOUR EXTRA DELEGATES/INDIVIDUALS.
