IFBB Accepts World Anti-Doping Code

Montreal, Canada, November 12, 2003:
IFBB International President Ben Weider, CM, CQ, SBStJ, PhD, today signed the Code Acceptance Form of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), adding the International Federation of BodyBuilders to the growing list of worldwide sport organizations that have accepted the World Anti-Doping Code.

Headquartered in Montreal, Canada, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was created in 1999 to support and promote fundamental values in sport and to unite sport organizations and governments in their efforts to achieve drug-free sport.

WADA Chairman Richard W. Pound, QC, remarks, "The next step in the fight against doping is the adoption and implementation of the first World Anti-Doping Code. The Code will harmonize rules and regulations regarding doping across all countries and all sports and give all athletes a level playing field."

Says President Weider, "Since 1986, the IFBB has implemented an anti-doping program modeled upon the Olympic Movement Anti-Doping Code. The IFBB has been a willing and active stakeholder in the formation of the new WADA Code and is pleased to join with other international sport organizations and governments in accepting the Code."
