WELCOME
Dear Bodybuilding and Fitness Enthusiasts: It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the online 2005 IFBB International Congress Report. This year marks the sixth in a row in which our annual Congress Report appears online. We are very pleased to publish news of our activities to our millions of Internet viewers from over 150 countries around the world. In my 2005 President's Report, I focus on the fundamental principles that have guided our federation for the past 60 years. Our motto, "Bodybuilding is important for Nation Building", and our firm belief that "in sport, their are no limitations; no barriers of race, religion, politics or culture", is the underlying reason why the IFBB has been, is, and will continue to be, so successful. I first visited China in 1952 and found great resistance to bodybuilding among the Chinese authorities, who considered it a "bourgeois" sport created in the West. Through persistence and sport diplomacy, the Chinese government eventually overcame its worries and fully accepted bodybuilding, which is now one of the most admired and respected sports in China. On behalf of the IFBB, I wish all bodybuilding and fitness enthusiasts good health and good fortune. Please enjoy the report! Ben Weider, CM, CQ, SBStJ, PhD
