His exciting rivalry with Swiss champion Parfait-Aime Konstedt became history. Year 2007 belonged to Konstedt: he won twice (at the European and World Championships) over Alexander. But Denisenko consequently trained and improved his muscle quality and body contours. They both met again at the 2008 World Championships and this was a fantastic and very close duel of two top world stars. Both were perfectly prepared. Round 1 went 7:8 to Denisenko but round 3 (routine): 8:7 to Konstedt, so everything depended on round 2: physique assessment in the finals. And this round was clearly won by Denisenko: 10:20. I think that this battle was even tougher for him than later victory in the overall. Bodybuilding world has a new great bodybuilding star with classic lines.

2008 World Championships medal winners (from L to R): Parfait-Aime Konstedt (silver); Alexander Denisenko (gold) and Murat Demir (bronze).

We can see from this picture how close was the battle (from L to R): Parfait-Aime and Alexander.

From left: Andrey Shmidt, Parfait-Aime Konstedt and Alexander Denisenko. Alexanders abs looks more impressive (separation, thickness).

Maybe this pose was decisive? Parfait-Aime displays bigger thighs but Alexander has broader and more massive back, especially middle back (trapezius, infraspinatus), lats and shoulders.
