2012 ARNOLD STRONGMAN CLASSIC EUROPE CONTENDERS

Brian Shaw, USA

Born: 1982
Residence: Fort Lupton, Colorado, USA
Occupation: degree in wellness management
Height: 203 cm
Bodyweight: 210 kg

No surprise that at the Lupton High School and then at the Black Hills State University he tried basketball, which led him to the gym, what has become his “sanctuary” according to his words. He has enormous hands and shoe size 16 (Europe: 50). He told about his natural strength – “Odd strength is what it is, not weight-room strength. It's brute strength, brute power."
In 2005 he entered his first strongman contest: The Denver Strongest Man and won it without any special preparations or training. In 2006 he turned professional and began to compete in the World Strongman Super Series. In Valetta, Cyprus, he placed 2nd, just 2 points behind famous Zydrunas Savickas.
Later on, at the 2010 World's Strongest Man in Sun City, South Africa, he was tied with Savickas but finally Savckas was declared the winner, having 3 victories over 2 victories of Shaw in the finals. They met once again at the Giants Live in October 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey, when Savickas was the winner and Shaw placed second. Shaw won the 2010 overall Super Series champion title.
2011was a very successful year for him as he finally dominated the World's Strongest Man contest, leaving behind Savickas and Hollands as well as won the Arnold Strongman Classic, ahead of Jenkins and Savickas. The beginning of 2012 brought him the 4th place at the Arnold Strongman in Columbus, so he is hungry to show his brute power and prove his domination once again.
