MALTA: GREAT SUCCESS IN SPORT AND POLITIC RECOGNITION

The Maltese Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation, chaired by World Champion athlete Ralph DeCelis organized its annual National Championships & an International Grand Prix, recent 23rd & 24th April at the Hilton Hotel, in St.Julians.

On Saturday 23rd a record number of 80 local athletes battled for the National Championships in front of a crowd of over 1.000 people, including the Minister of Sport -Hon. Chris Agius- and the President of the Republic’s husband, His Excellency Mr. Edgar Preca. They both were awarded by the Maltese Federation, for their support towards our sport. Malta, with only 400,000 people, it´s improving its level every year, and Bodybuilding & Fitness are very respected by the local authorities in Malta.

This contest was also a qualifier for the EBFF European Championships to be held, from 3rd to 8th May, in Santa Susanna (Spain).
The overall winners were:

Kirsten Dalmas: Bikini Fitness
Chantal Graziani: Body Fitness
Konrad Fenech: Men’s Physique
Daniel Umanah: Classic Bodybuilding
Darren Borg: Bodybuiling

On Sunday 24th a number of 45 athletes, from 7 European countries (Malta, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Ireland, Norway & Sweden), competed in the International Grand Prix, which had 5.000 € in cash prizes. There were also 5 guest posing appearances, including two IFBB Pro atheltes: Ellen Elizabeth Berg & Williiam Bonac.

The winners, in each category, were as follows:

Bikini Fitness: Kirsten Dalmas (Malta)

Body Fitness: Vibeke Litland (Norway)

Men’s Physique: Konrad Fenech (Malta)

Classic Bodybuilding: Daniel Umanah (Malta)

Bodybuilding -80 kg: Rafael Beltran (Spain)

Bodybuilding -90 kg: Darren Borg(Malta)

Bodybuilding 90+ kg: Karol Stuglik (Ireland)

Overall Bodybuilding: Rafael Beltran(Spain)
