FIRST IFBB MEN’S PHYSIQUE CONTEST IN THE ARAB COUNTRIES

This was something surprising and unexpected: so many athletes at the first men’s physique competition in the Arab world! Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation included the men’s physique category into their National Day Bodybuilding Championships held prior to the Amateur Olympia in Manama, Bahrain. And it was an amazing success.
Up till now, men’s physique has been mainly developed in North America and Europe. Now the Middle East enters the scene. Predicting the greater popularity of this sport, the IFBB International Congress in Marrakesh, Morocco, voted to increase the number of categories in this sport to four: 170 cm, 174 cm, 178 cm and over 178 cm. And it was a move in good direction. With Arab countries and the rest of Asia we can expect over 100 men’s physique athletes at each contest.
Patrick Turner from kuwaitbodybuiding com wrote – “There were some great physiques on stage. Maybe this will catch on and we'll start seeing more of this around the region?” Why not?

Regarding the quality of physiques, pictures will tell more than words.

The winners:
  1. Mohammed Luthfallah
  2. Mohammed Al Majid
  3. Salman Hassan
